VA 'About Fresh' Produce Prescriptions [Rockefeller]

This evaluation study examines health and healthcare cost outcomes for Veteran participants in the VA 'About Fresh' Produce Prescription (VA AFPRx) program compared to a comparison group of similar Veterans. The VA AFPRx program provides financial support for low-income Veterans with diet-sensitive conditions to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables which may result in improved health outcomes.
The study also assess implementation metrics and program satisfaction for the participation group. Measurement of implementation metrics will support expanding this program to additional VA sites.

This project builds off earlier work at the VA, Enhancing Longitudinal Assessment of Food Insecurity Using EHR Data.
