Our research group is currently conducting several studies around the use of patient generated data (PGD) to enhance delivery of Patient Centered Care (PCC) to improve management of chronic pain in older adults.
One study focuses on PGD profile displays to support patient centered care for geriatric Veterans with chronic pain. We are conducting research with geriatric Veterans with chronic pain and their caregivers to explore Veterans' perspectives on the content of the PGD profile displays and their attitudes toward them. We are also conducting research with clinicians about desired content of the PGD profile displays specific to pain management. One goal of this study is to develop a prototype clinician-facing PGD profile display and evaluate its usability. Another goal is to examine the impact of contextual PGD profile displays on patient adherence, pain function, satisfaction, and shared decision making.
