Kristin Knippenberg is a PhD student in biomedical informatics. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and Music and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry. Prior to informatics, she spent many years as a scientific and medical writer in fields as diverse as anthropology, environmental science, and genomics, but the bulk of her career has been spent supporting and writing for health outcomes research. She is very excited and intrigued by the integration of subjective, patient-generated health data with other long-standing data sources, which is also a primary focus of Dr. Butler. Ultimately, she hopes to research and build machine-learning solutions and programs for patients whose participation (and data) in healthcare systems is sparse, complicated, unmeasured, or otherwise misaligned with current healthcare structures.  

 

In her spare time, she enjoys walking her basset hound, Willie, spending lots of time with her partner and friends, community organizing, reading, knitting, and weightlifting.
