Dr. L. Weaver

Postdoctoral Fellow

L is a first year NLM Postdoctoral Fellow.  L has a doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles and a MLIS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

L’s prior research has centered on medical records and health data for underserved populations.  Their research demonstrated ways in which these populations were historically undercounted, documented data practices specific to these populations and documented interventions related to improved service interactions with providers. The research included interviews with health care providers, researchers, software developers and patients regarding the friction, marginalia, social histories, work-arounds, and proposed solutions.

While at the University of Utah, they are interested in developments around large data approaches to surfacing issues related to disparities of care.  These include using large data approaches to explore relationships between patient-provider interactions, health care outcomes and the health records produced by providers.
